Let’s start the week off right and talk about nutrition for a moment! We at Atoms & Auras advocate a healthy diet first and foremost as a means for proper nutrition. But in some cases supplementation may be beneficial and even necessary depending on lifestyle and local dietary options.
It can be challenging enough to maintain a healthy diet with some of our lifestyles, despite recent events that have made it even more difficult on top of our typical day to day routines. This is why it’s no surprise why most people are unsure if they are actually getting the necessary amount of vitamins and minerals to stay healthy. But even in the best case scenarios diet alone may still not be enough due to local diet sources and quality of food.
For example, here in America our crop soil has been turned over so many times that the nutrient levels in our foods are lower than other countries with more nutrient-dense soils. You notice the difference if you travel abroad frequently, you can just feel the difference in the quality of food. So if you are living off of an exclusively American diet you could follow a dietitians meal plan to a T and still come up short.
This is just one reason why supplementation may be necessary. There are countless other instances where one might find nutritional supplements to be extremely beneficial due to other dietary or lifestyle shortcomings.
Now let’s say you are getting the proper amount of all the necessary nutrients your body needs, supplements can be a way to get other beneficial nutrients to get added health benefits. There are some food sources that other nations/cultures live on that have incredible health benefits and they are just not available anywhere else through natural means. We live in an amazing time where we have the technology and logistical means to take advantage of these various beneficial sources through supplementation.
Some may argue supplements aren’t “natural” and others are indifferent. I say you do what you feel is best for you and your body. Supplementation isn’t for everybody and you have a right to your own thoughts and beliefs. But if you are interested in learning more about how supplementation could help you meet your nutritional deficiencies or to gain additional health benefits then feel free to message me!
Have a great week everyone, take care!
