What are you doing? Not like right now this very second, I know you’re reading this, I mean what are you doing with your life on a daily basis? Is it full of things you don’t really want to be doing, or does it involve things that make you happy and therefore giving you more fulfillment out of life? Most people would say it’s a mix, but if you had to put an overlaying theme to it, would it be good or not so good? The reason I ask is because if you are stressing yourself out everyday meeting other people’s demands and doing things that don’t add value to your life, life is too short to continue down this path and it may be time to consider a change.
I’ll put it another way: if there is something you are naturally talented at, or just makes you so happy you can barely contain it and you are not doing anything with it or spending enough time doing it, then maybe you are doing things in your life that you shouldn’t be doing. Even to have something that you can definitively identify and say “Yes! I can (blank) REALLY well!” then that is a blessing in and of itself. So to have that and not be doing it more often or making it a priority in life is something that should be addressed, but if you are then that’s great!
Maybe you have an undiscovered talent and don’t know it yet! Maybe you just haven’t experimented enough to know. If this is the case then I urge you to explore and try new things to find out! Everyone has something to contribute to the world. Everyone has an inner artist of some sort, whether it’s with paint or numbers or both!
As someone that recently left their steady and financially secure job for the dark unknown abyss of self-employment, I’m here to tell you there is far too much to enjoy in life for you to be suffering everyday when you don’t have to be. Life is what you make it. Life happens for us, not to us. Our life is a product of our mindset and beliefs and what we choose to do. Once you take ownership of your life it brings a whole new perspective.
Now I’m not telling you to quit your job and go live in a hut in Nepal or anything like that, maybe you have an enjoyable job and that’s awesome. I’m just saying to incorporate more things in your life that bring you joy instead of frustration. Begin to turn those “I don’t want to’s” into “I can’t wait to”, and those “I can’t” into “I can.” This will help shift your mindset to a happier wavelength, and will attract more positive energy into your life. This shift is critical as it is typically the hardest step to turning your life around. That’s why I encourage people to start small. Change small things in your life first to help begin to brighten your days. That makes it much easier to tackle larger things once you’ve already gained some mental momentum.
But if there is something you are passionate about and just lights you up but you don’t honor that and spend time doing that then maybe it is time to reconsider what you are doing. You deserve to be happy in life. Spend it doing the things you love for you, not what someone else loves for you. So if you’ve been having thoughts about your life and if it’s really how you want it or not, hopefully this helps clear things up and point you in the right direction!
